Sutherland Shorthorns has been in business for over 50 years. We have a closed herd of approximately 50 cows, with our cattle maintained on fescue pastures. No creep is fed, however, after weaning, some supplementation is given to the cattle on a limit fed basis. We currently do no embryo transfer, allowing our cows to raise their calves, but will most likely return to it in the future. We also use limited artificial insemination. During the Fall cows calve during a 45 day period from October 1st to the middle of November; in the Spring cows calve from March 25th to May 1st.
